Had a customer call about his Chinese maple, he stated it has large fungus growing on the trunk and the bark looks moldy. Any ideas on what this could be or and a suitable treatment would be greatly appreciated.
 
have the customer email you a picture ;if he wants free advice he should be willing to do something.

Is this a true Chinese maple, Acer pentaphyllum, or the more common Japanese maple, Acer palmatum?

I sincerely hope you are able to post pictures.
