Spur sprocket? Well the parts 660 I was trying to get running has a hole worn thru the out oiler line and now I'm missing ignition parts and I don't know whats missing the ipl doesn't give me much to go off of. The saw seems like low hours on it View attachment 965268
Looks like the points and points box are missing, probably the same for the 754s.

Yea that bummed me out. Also the front handle is different from my other 660 which stunk. Will be a good saw to practice on. Hate to f up a running saw doing a repair. I did get the saw super clean the bar and chain is like new and will clean up nice.

So the parts 660 looks like it has a 'ok' piston and rings. Ordered the spanner wrench that maintenance supervisor recommended from Amazon. Guess its a waiting game now for when it comes to try my 1st clutch removal. The saw cleaned up really good. 19" hardnose bar and 404 058 chain and airfilter cleaned up nice. 20220216_152949.jpg20220216_152933.jpg

@Maintenance supervisor thanks man! Your one heck of a guy! I followed your instructions on clutch removal along with the recommended spanner wrench and worked like a charm. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated :numberone: the spur drum looks in good shape wear wise. Also thanks to the other guys in the thread that help me with this kikd of stuff like Ezra and woodslasher 20220220_115948.jpg20220220_115934.jpg20220220_115922.jpg20220220_115913.jpg

Anyone know a trick to pull the flywheel off a 754? Do you have to make a home made one? That looks like the route I will have to go. I just picked up another saw and no spark. Piston is super clean. Hoping it's just the condensor but is it ever that easy?🤣

I have snuck a rope or coat hanger around the bottom of the flywheel and loosen the nut. Then I give the crank a couple of good wacks with a large brass drift.
While the saw is suspended in the air.
I did similar with heavy copper wire, wrapped it around a fin on each side susspend the saw a bit leave the nut on flush with the end of the crank and wack it with brass

Thanks guys, I will give that a try.
Anyone put a chip in a large frame remington? Bantam/660/754? I see there's alot of kits and it looks easier and more self explanatory than trying to find a set of points and stuff. If so where did you guys put the chip at? I see there are two styles a 1 blade and a 2 blade. Guessing the one that fits homelite will work for remington?
Does the chip get attached inside of the points box? Screenshot_20220302-054621_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20220302-054608_Chrome.jpg

Thanks man! Your rope trick worked to perfection  if I'm ever out your way the beer is on me. Now the fun part of looking at the points and condensor :dizzy:

Anyone know the coil resistance range on a large frame remington? I have a coil on a 754 that is saying 7.26 ohm and on a 660 parts saw the coil is reading 7.52 ohm on the 20,000 setting on the multimeter. I have no spark. I cleaned the corrosion off the points and put in a nos condensor that was correct for the saw. No sense in converting to a chip if the coil is bad. Will any other remington coils fit it if the coil is bad?
