I used rope and those cluthes were very tight ! I was heaving on that sucker so hard I was concerned that I was going the wrong way.

Really the only clutches I've encountered that were right hand thread were the ones with a nut on the end of the crankshaft.
Yea I was concerned that the flywheel key would shear off. Thanks for the pro tip! You, woodslasher, and Ezra got some great tips and super helpful information for novice guys like me. Much appreciated!

I picked up a 660 parts saw mostly for the air filter and the filter adapter with that spring to hold the filter. I will practice on that saw before I proceed on the 754. Last thing i want to do is mess up a good running saw.

your 754 looks great! Awesome is an understatement. Looks like the clutch was no good after removing it. The holes look a bit stretched.

Thats basically a thick piece of sheet metal that keeps the clutch from flying apart , the holes in the clutch shoes were good.
When I tear down the SL7A Remington for a rebuild, I'll try to document things a little bit better with pictures and descriptions.

Looking forward to it. I seen a pl6/sl7a on ebay going for 450$ it was a combo saw. Must have had pl6 guts because he said no automatic oiler
Some 7s supposedly had manual oiler only.
Those are hard saws to come by. Usually it's pl4 and super 754 and bantams that I see. I'm always on the hunt for remingtons. I won't buy anything under 59cc a sl9 and a sl10a were both junk I bought, I wish the sl10a was better because it felt like a sweet lil saw. But no spark and piston was torn up and bearings were bad.
660 parts saw looks different than my running one. Also looks like it has a spur sprocket than a rim drive. Any thoughts fellas? Thanks!
The clutch assembly and spur sprocket seem to be almost new with minimal wear luckily. It's definitely a parts saw to say the least. Going to drop the 404 058 chain to be sharpened off and then come back to clean it up. Definitely needs a carb rebuild but what remington doesn't, it's in fair shape other than the recoil is stuck the saw does turn over and not seized. Will post pics after initial clean up. Serial # is 81848
