Repair fins in Starter Housing Cover

Have some Stihl saws with som broken fins in Starter Housing Cover. What do people do to fiks this. Its die cast Magnesium. So hard to weld. Make new in alu. How to attach them. Dont want new one in plastic. Anyone have any luck to fix this issues

Drilling a hole either end of what’s left of the broken fin, insert a length of ridged wire and bend to shape, build up JB weld layers on the wire, dremel and sand back to finalise shape. Clean well and then powder coat.
