I finally bit the bullet and rewired my setup. I was tired of having 2 t-stats on the wall.
The new setup involves a new Honeywell programmable t-stat with the touch screen and multistage heat. I wanted to have my 3-way valve from the OWB loop acting as first stage heat and the propane acting as second stage heat. I also needed a way to switch my pump on and off for my secondary loop that feeds my kickspace heaters.
The problem was that I couldn't program the t-stat to not kick in second stage heat when it wasn't really needed. I finally decided that I needed two switches next to the t-stat. One interrupts the second stage heat call and the other connects the contact needed to turn on the secondary loop pump.
Everything worked fine once I figured that I needed the 3-way valve wired with heat one and common. I was able to remove a second t-stat and a transformer from the system.
