Had to put the ol' girl down yesterday. She put in 17 long and fruitful years of companionship and wood pile guard duty. Gonna miss my Sheba...she used to love laying by the fire pit and escorting me back and forth as I loaded and unloaded firewood. Dogs can be so loyal and they really don't ask much in return. Even though you know it's comin' it don't make it any easier...

I saw the old girl in your Fiskars video. I've got a boxer who has developed degenerative myelopathy (sort of MS for dogs.) So sad to watch, I don't think she'll last the winter.

Sorry for your loss man, dogs are family.

Very hard thing to do. I have had a few dogs in my lif, but only one that I had to decide to put down, and he also happened to be the only one I raised from a pup. It has been 8 years and it still hurts to think about it.

I have a new pup now myself and while he should live 12~15 years or more, I dread that that day will come again....

Very sorry for your loss, and I know no words make it better.

sorry for your loss. the measure of a man's love for his companion is to do the right thing when it needs doing. i've also had to put a very loyal dog down. just flat out sucks. after a period of mourning, you should get a new dog. won't fix things but will fill part of the void. just sayin.

Had to make the same decision back in July. There are two things that made the decision a little easier for me. I knew she was suffering...and a little time. Thoughts are with you bro.

Sorry to hear. Only problem with them........ they just don't live long enough.

Hopefully, after enough time passes to mourn, you will get another dog. So many out there need a good home.

I feel your pain. I had to put my "best bud" down at 13. That was 10 years ago, and I still miss his companionship. Sorry for your loss.
