I live in wisconsin and have a5 year old sargent tina crab that
gets black spots on its leaves in late spring and starts to shed
its leaves in mid july . Any suggestions?

Crab Apples

It sounds to me like the disease 'Apple Scab'. It is a condition quite common among crabapple varieties. Over the counter " Ortho Daconil " is recommended for foliar diseases.
Although it looks bad it is usually not harmful to the tree immediately but rather over years. With some TLC the tree should recover fine. :)

there are other products that work well for sacb. I understand Daconil may be pulled from OTC markets soon due to use levels in more lucerative industries.

Reasd the label, for it is the law. More is not better because a little is good.

Scab is a wet weather disease so best time to treat is afeter a rain or iff it is real humid out. First app should be aroun the time leaves are around 2/3 out.
