I came up with a Stihl 029 saw. I knew it had a scored piston. I have it torn down and need some suggestions. I've attached a couple of photos of the cylinder. I think, with some time, it will clean up. No scoring above the ports. Is it worth the effort to attempt to save the cylinder?

Thanks,

Hobo

Is that for piston and cyl, or complete engine?
I paid less than 30 for the piston/cylinder. It was on ebay, I'd bought from them before without problems so I bought at least 4 more. I have bought complete engines before but didn't use the lower end because I didn't know how good the aftermarket crankshaft and rod were. I eventually stuck another engine together using them because it had a bad crankshaft and I just used what I had.
I just looked it up and it was from machinesdoctoronline and it was 19.99+5.99 postage. That was the one I was talking about not needing a ring compressor, just push the piston in (carefully).
