Needs some advice. The neighbor down the lane sold their house to a Mennonite house flipper guy. We've been having issues with his contractors blocking the lane, burning the siding, shingles, construction debris etc.(the house is getting torn down to the foundation.) I've spoken with the "site" manager about it a few times and once with the owner. It gets better then it flares up again.
Yesterday after I got home, it was apparent from the fresh coating of black soot everywhere they were burning more siding and it looks like all the old foam board as well. My wife said the smoke was so thick you could hardly breath outside for several hours. Then they had a tree butcher in to drop several trees, including a huge white oak. (More to come on this in a bit.) Whim had the lane blocked up to the point my wife had to get out of her car and get him to move so she could get to work and the kids off to school. She was actually late feom having to find the guy.
I've spoken to the township and they don't seem to care much about it. (Private lane) so I went over to see if the owner or "site manager" (he's a lazy pos that stands around and acts important) were around. Neither were there so I spoke with the contractor and he claims the owner has the townships permission to burn building materials on-site. (I'll be checking on this today after work, however last I checked the ordinances we were only allowed to burn yard waste.) So I left it go till I could collect more information.
Assuming they are in the wrong, and since the township doesn't seem to care. What do I do to stop them from continuing to burn everything on site?
Call 911 and report a house fire. Cops and fire dept will show up. If they're burning siding or shingles etc there will likely be a fine.

Man accused of gunning down neighbor during tree-trimming dispute

By Ben Brasch
September 19, 2023

A disagreement over trimming a tree turned deadly after an elderly man shot his neighbor, according to a Florida sheriff’s office, the latest example of a pedestrian situation in the United States ending with a shooting death.

Edward Druzolowski was arrested Sunday on a second-degree murder charge after admitting to detectives he killed 42-year-old Brian Ford for not leaving Druzolowski’s property while trimming trees along their fence line, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Ford’s 8-year-old son watched his father get gunned down.

A 78-year-old with osteoporosis, Druzolowski told detectives he brought the gun for protection because he feared what being shoved to the ground would do to his body. Druzolowski’s wife told detectives her husband only meant to “scare” Ford.

Druzolowski said he never had problems with Ford. He said they hadn’t spoken in a couple of years. But he was afraid of Ford because Ford had told him in the past how he would win fights in prison.

“Edward said he was afraid Brian would have hurt or killed him if he didn’t shoot him,” detectives wrote.

Druzolowski told detectives he was in his bedroom watching football Sunday evening when his wife came in to say that Ford was cutting branches off their tree. He didn’t think much of it because he thought Ford was on his own property, according to the arrest report.

When Druzolowski’s wife came back later and said Ford was on their property, Druzolowski got his holstered .357 Magnum revolver wrapped in a blue handkerchief from the bottom drawer of his nightstand and went outside.

Druzolowski, in the arrest report, said he saw his gate open from his back porch and Ford with a chain saw. Druzolowski said he told Ford to get off his property, he told deputies. Ford essentially told him to mind his business and then cursed at him, Druzolowski said.

The older man said he then pulled out his revolver, threw the holster and handkerchief on the ground and aimed at Ford.

“‘You are pointing a gun at me, are you going to shoot me?’” Druzolowski recalled Ford saying as the younger man approached. Druzolowski told detectives he yelled for Ford to stop coming closer or he would shoot.

Druzolowski told detectives he keeps the first two chambers of his revolver empty as a safety measure. But aiming at Ford, he pulled the trigger once. Click. Nothing. He said Ford kept moving toward him. Click.
This time, the gun fired. Apparently there was a round in the chamber.
Druzolowski said he yelled for his wife to call 911.

Druzolowski said he hadn’t called 911 earlier because he didn’t think they would respond to a tree dispute between neighbors, plus Ford would be off his property by the time police arrived.

Authorities interviewed Ford’s 8-year-old son, who saw his father shot and killed. The boy said his father told Druzolowski, “I’ll cut your head off with the chain saw” but that the chain saw was not on or running.

Police found Ford face up with a chain saw by his right foot and two knives nearby.
Sounds like justified action to me.

It wasn’t that cramped! I was a teenager and those hunts are some of my fondest memories!! That was roughing it!! The new cabin is like a Holiday Inn! The new crowd that comes up don’t know how good they have it, you’ve spoiled them
Actually, the old cabin was VERY cramped, the new cabin has much more room. The new cabin even has a paved floor, a sink (and granite countertop) and solar panels with LED lights on switches, instead of filling the Coleman lanterns every night!

But the new cabin will never have something that the old cabin had ... Uncle Hank!

Uncle Hank was a storyteller, and when you are in the woods, off the grid, no TV or radio, a storyteller is invaluable! We all miss Uncle Hank's tales! Most of them were about hunting and started with the same phrase ... "It was a cold and windy day" How I wish I could bring him back for my grandchildren, but no one tells tales like Uncle Hank did! RIP Hank, we miss ya!

Ya I have one you want it ? Come get it I have no use for it View attachment 1113747View attachment 1113748
Thanks for that great tool offer. That's one heck of a deal. Im going to have to pass on it because the one I found is a lot closer to me and right on the way for the mower blade grinder that I am buying Thursday night. Otherwise I would be out there to pick it up from you.

Sounds like self defense and the best witness is Ford's own son. Case closed.

The PA Department of Environmental Protection is the entity to consult. I've had experience with NY's DEC investigators... including a current case. They currently have a property under active surveillance from the ground and via a drone building a case against a landowner and a contractor. From looking at PA's DEP web site they are the right people. Do it real soon so there is evidence! Video will help. There are two links below:

I'd think a grand jury could come back with a no bill... A disabled senior citizen against a younger, stronger man who had the ability and opportunity to cause significant harm to him. A younger man making threats while advancing and with a known history of violence. The saw being off is meaningless... almost any saw will start with one pull when warmed up!

Three that I'm aware of. I have 5 kids, 3 with my wife, and 2 with 2 different women I was never married to :dumb:.
(Yes I was a sinner ). In no way do I blame all the issues with my older daughters moms to be because of them, but they surely had a part in it. Praise be to God I'm doing what I can to live as a changed man, and did things right this time around.
Wonderful to hear.

As a counselor, I see a lot of changed people. Only those who understand they need to make a change, will make a change. When someone feels badly about past behavior that's what I call entering the circle through the gate of Self Reflection, Repentance, and Apology. What good man among us does not have something in his past that he regrets? We are born children and grow into adults. It takes a strong man to admit he's made mistakes and an even stronger man to want to mend his ways.. I maintain a Sacred Circle of 12 stones. The East Gate is the Gate of the Sun of God rising to give us a NEW day and a NEW beginning. I am grateful for my 76 years and all of the lessons I've learned. Now that I know I can be a NEW man daily and forgive myself for my past mistakes, I'm very happy. I feel badly about everyone I've ever wronged but I've forgiven myself, let my past die with the evening sun and started over every day since.. I wish you and your family well.. Life is not lived only in the Physical, we must learn the gift of the Metaphysical. Only he who understand that love, honor, dignity and our concept of Good and GOD can exist only in the Metaphysical and not be proved by the Physical. No man can measure the love he holds for his family but we will easily die for them. They are physical but our love resides in the Metaphysical. I have an atheist friend, who does not understand how I see, feel, and know God. I feel sorry for him. He's missing so much joy in this life.. Be blessed. .

EXACTLY!!
Yep, thats more or less the plan at this point. There needs to be an active fire before anyone will come out.

Thanks, I'll get that filled out.

What is the goal here? To let the owner know so he will not rent to the guy in the future? I see not wanting him in the neighborhood, but I'm not sure that will resolve it. It does have potential to backfire as you say. And it does nothing to correct the behavior. Seems to me that there needs to be a police report, assuming that they will look at it for a low value theft. Without that, everything is hearsay.
Good points. At this point, I am waiting to see what the guy who was stolen from decides to do.

Yes indeed, it’s hard to replace oral history.

When I was growing up, we usually had three generations worth at my cabin. My grandfather did not hunt but my dad’s best friend was almost a generation older than him, and he was like a grandpa to me. And my dad’s other best friend was WWII vet. Between those three guys and others who visited occasionally, the after dinner storytelling was always awesome.

Now it’s me just at the hunting cabin at age 44 plus my teenage boys and some of their friends. It’s probably safe to say that I’m the “cool dad” amongst their group of friends, but I still don’t have nearly the wealth of stories of the older guys did nor do I have military or law enforcement experience (which was the basis of many of the older guy’s tales).

The father of my best friend from junior high was a Vietnam vet then was a police officer who became the chief of police. He could keep you enthralled for hours. One of the best “BS sessions” I ever had was being able to hang out with him as an adult so he told us some of the stories that he didn’t tell when we were teens.

Maybe you could find a truck driver to come hang out and tell stories, we've got plenty 🤣.
