slabbed some deadar cedar and some eucalypt yesterday, i don't know what type of eucalypt it is. hope some off you aussies have an idea, the bark is simular to the yellow box but the timber is too pink. anyway, some random pics of the day.
 
Lucky bugger! Nice mill too. Least you don't have to break your back like I do with an Alaskan mill.

I would say the euc is either Rose gum(flooded gum) or Sydney blue gum.
 
That wood is amazing stuff! You must be chuffed! (Hope I used that word right) Nice mill too. Love the mountains of dust...:rock:
 
I noticed in your second picture your logs are cut short (2 meters?). What is the end project going to be – if you don’t mind me asking? The grain is very interesting.
 
i just looked up flooded gum and it could well be it, thanks matrix.
mjr, as for the timber, the boards will be used for table tops and table legs and things, i'll see how they dry. the length of some of those logs, that's how they came from the arborist so i had no say in it that's why they were an odd length.
