split tail

what is the best size and rope/cord to use for a split tail on 1/2" arbor plex on a blakes hitch. I am having a little trouble with what I am using now. (heat). I am descending slow ?????

I use the same rope as the climbing line except I try for a different colour.

Also, have you tried a Blakes with 5 coils instead of the regular 4? Tuck the tail thru the third coil instead of the second.
