stack height

Whats everybody think.My owb is about 12 foot from garage.The garage has a barn roof on it that is about 10 foot taller than stack.Besides some smoke rolling around the back yard when theres little wind should I lengthen stack?Owb works good now,but would the longer stack improve anything or just cause more problems burning green wood.

Using my chimney installation manual, I suppose you could use the following rule...

"The chimney must extend at least 2 ft. higher than any part of the building within a horizontal distance of 10 ft."

So measure 10 ft. over from the chimney to the barn roof, then go 2 ft. higher than however high that is.
