Stihl 021 wont turn off when put to off

I put a non OEM ignition magneto in saw. Ran ground wire to the plastic arm and checked continuity from module spade connector to the ground on the block, Very good continuity at all junctions. Had rebuilt saw and after a few pulls fired right up, after warming up set to stop and still kept running, I saw tiny sparks at the location where the wire from magneto meets the spring. I tried to get better connection so I ran a screw driver across both wire and spring but still would not stop engine. Any ideas as to what is wrong.

you need to determine if it is the coil or the connections. unplug it at the coil, and hook up a remote wire/spade terminal, put it back together
and start the saw with the wire end exposed, and try grounding this wire against the block to see if it shuts down.

Of course, the bar/chain is off the saw......
