Stihl 026 Decompression Valve Trouble

Saw: Stihl 026, 5 years old

After cleaning and putting my saw away for a couple days I couldn't start it. Changed the gas/oil mixture, cleaned the air filter, and replaced the spark plug. Now I can start the saw but only with the decompression switch in the UP position, not the normal DOWN position. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
