Stihl 031 oil pump interchangeability

Hi

Would anyone know whether an 038 oil pump would fit an 031? They look identical in pictures and share the same gasket but that doesn't mean they would interchange.

The reason I ask is that I can get an 038 oil pump off ebay easy enough whereas 031 oil pumps are going to be second hand only and few and far between in Australia.

Should bolt right up to a late model 031, the early models 031 pumps will be different as they used the larger pump with the white plastic adjuster cover (attached below pic).
