Stihl 041 chainsaw woodruff key

Hope that someone can help, my Stihl 041 wouldn't start and after the elimination process, discovered that the woodruff key had broken off, have removed the 2 pieces crank looks good, not sure why it happened, regards David.

I sheared one on mine when I was lazy and didn't torque the flywheel properly. That's about the only way to shear one, maybe yours was a bit light. They are available, I got a set of 6 from an ebay seller and back in business. They are tiny, a backup is a good idea.

Loose nut, re-torque it to 30 nm or 22 lb-ft. Stuff a piece of rope in the spark plug hole to stop the piston from moving.
