Stihl 041 crank seals..

Do they mount from the outside in, or from the inside out? Meaning... do I have to split the case to replace them? The one on the clutch side looks as if I could pluck it out and replace without splitting the case.

First... get a service manual!

However... to answer your question - they go in from the outside - no need to split the case..

Yep, unfortunately the 041 service manual is one I am missing from my collection. IPL I have.

Anyone have one in PDF form?

I do not have the service manual. Why would he need it for crank seals? Yes, they both install from the outside. No need to split the case.

My Sherry glass is empty.. who's at fault here?

I rely almost exclusively on IPLs. About the only thing I get from the service manual is torque specs and that's pretty generic across all saws, depending on the fastener size.
