just removed the top end off my 076.
theres four long studs that hold down the jug, manuel sortof skips over the specifics on how to remove them, just talks about the 051 procedure, thanks stihl.

wondering how to remove them without hurting anything, are they reverse threaded?

I have a pair of vise grips with a modified groove in the jaws for grabbing those things at the base and turning them. They're threaded the normal direction and just in there tight. Most of the time a couple end up backing out when removing the nuts.
Grip the little shoulder next to the threads, not the thinner center.

gotcha, my little orange pair of of vice grips has that groove.

just had a heck of a time getting out the flywheel side oil seal, may of damaged the case..

Or just treat them like any other stud and lock two nuts on it and screw it out.
I have had all 4 of my 076's out like that (16 studs not 4 on one saw)
