They're great, quick accurate and easy for beginners. One thing to take into consideration is that you need separate ones for each chain size. I was under the assumption that you could buy the holder and just swap the files over but it mucks up the gap between the guide and the file
I have 2 stihl ones and two pferd ones, they do a very good job. The pfers you keep moving the file for L or R cutters a bit of a pain.
They dont work on skip.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy again.
I use them and find it to be my favorite file. The way it’s designed, I can touch up my chain on the tailgate of my truck while out cutting. I for some reason could never do that with a regular file.
The 3/8 file is great on my 5100s with an 18” bar/chain combo, but willl make my FIL’s 455 rancher feel grabby and weak as it keeps the depth gauge/rakers pretty aggressive. When I sharpen his in the field I just pull the center depth file out and only file the cutter.
