Fairly low hour saw. If I rev it up and let off it idles down fine. After being in the cut it slowly returns to normal idle. Any inherent problem areas to look at? It has been trouble free up to now.

Intake boots are common on those. Sounds like it's leaning out under load. Could just need richened up a bit but guessing it has an air leak somewhere or dirt in the carb.

You have pressure-vacuum pump ? if yes do the tests to the saw, if no go to a chainsaw mechanic , or to the dealer.

Tank vent it was. Little foam filter inside plastic vent unit had fine sawdust covering the 5 or 6 small holes where the air is pulled in. A little hard to figure out how to get the vent apart. Thanks Nmurph.
