It's not much harder to install the rebuild kit, I have rebuild carbs before. The reasoning was there are other parts that can fail in the carb that are not in the kit (like the air plugs). From inspection, and his experience, we weren't convinced the parts in the kit would make a difference.

Note, we do get the same behavior with old and new carb. I would expect the behavior to be somewhat different if the new carb was bad -- like not starting at all, or not running on full throttle. Behavior is identical.

Try rebuilding the original carb. If that doesn't work, you'll need to gig in an start looking for a large air leak. While you're at it pop the exhaust off and have a look at the piston and cylinder through the exhaust port.

Okay, so, I took apart both carburetors and rebuilt the original with parts from the new. I fired it up, hit the throttle and it no longer stalled when I let go of the throttle. It works now!!! Thx everyone. I really appreciate all the help and support. Nice to have this dark cloud lifted.

Now onto the next thing that needs fixing :)..

Most dealers won’t rebuild carbs anymore . They rather just throw a new carb on . Just me I’ll try. A 7$ kit before dropping 75-100 on a new factory carb
By the way a new carb for that saw should be in the $50 range OEM

The 0602 is a Zama C1QS75B easy start version.
The 0603 is a Zama C1QS76B regular

The 0605 is the Walbro WT-215...

Get the Walbro, if you don't have a primer bulb.
