Stihl bar on husky

I have the bar adapter and run a 28" Oregon bar and 91dl chain for a Stihl on my 394. But I tried to put a new Stihl 36" bar and 114dl chain (husky chain) on today and it's like the chain is to short. Worked fine on my 046. Do you guys that use the adapters use longer chains?

I switched from d176 to d009 on my poulan, needed spacers on the studs (i cut springs) Im going from a 66 dl to a 68. Same length bar. Some grind the slot, i dont have the tools to do it correctly.
