Thanks...hopefully it won't come to that and the saw can continue it's life with me. I wouldn't feel right selling it either.
As regards parts, that German site, Sagenspezi, seems to have a lot of stuff, which although not OEM, would keep the saw running.

Yes, I have used Sagenspeizi for parts on my Contra and a few friends on that side have also helped finding parts from Germany and adjoining countries.
