Cutting a lot of brush and thin branches ,
can cause multiple cases of chain derailment .
In short time the plastic chain catcher,
which is built-in on the clutch cover waves
bye-bye for good .
Either a new clutch cover is needed to replace the "chain catcher-less " one or that plastic
chain catcher add on from Stihl is needed
( part # : 1123-656-7700 ) .

Or a round piece of 20 mm dia. Nylon #6 can be
used along with a M5 bolt & nut and couple of washers for an easy and rather robust fix .

Is the nylon available at most hardware stores? I need to do something similar for another saw.

Stihl and Husky have both been doing stupid things with homeowner chain catchers for a really long time. If anyone needs an easily-replaceable chain catcher, it the homeowner.

Echo is bad, too...not sure how long they have been at it.
