Stihl Ms311 rebuild kits ??

I have a ms 311 with a broken piston. I'll at least need a top end kit. I might need or want to buy the whole block and crank with head etc. What are some brands or kits that are decent or medium quality? thanks

I think you would best to consider them all to be iffy or low quality. Does not mean they will not work or last, just that you should not count on them doing either.

Find a used OEM or part out the saw.

Use MS 391 top end. Cheaper, bigger. Be sure to get correct version for your intake manifold.

Use OEM and support OEMs and their dealers. Don’t buy Chinese knock-off crap or one day there not be any good quality OEM stuff around.

I think this is a clam shell design with one bar stud in the crank case bottom. You have to take out that stud to remove the block from the frame. Wait until you try to remove it. It is a tough one for me. Mike
