just for future refference the starter on a 044 is not the same as on a 460 even though sellers on flea bay list starter to fit both. the mounting holes are different size. 460 is bigger, guess one could drill out, but one would rather just get the right part to start with.

And while we're on the subject.....an 046/460 oiler is completely different than that of the 044/440.

I have a used 046/460 oiler with brand new HO piston pump and control bolt.
Make me a reasonable offer and its yours. I paid $32 for the piston pump and control bolt FYI.

Actually, the 044 starter is the same as the 460 starter. The very earliest 044s used 4mm screws on the starter and those starter housing are different but those are pretty rare. The main stream 044, MS-440, 046, and MS-460 all use the same starter housing.

huh, guess both my o44s are the early then, they don't say mag on um. well maybe the one I ordered will fit the 460 after all. so what do you do if ya needed one for the early 044?
hey a.s. I might take that oiler in a week or so, just used my spare.
