Elmore, It was great to meet you this past weekend. Thanks so much for posting the photos. They turned out unbelievably well. Really shows me how I can do better on some things too.

ON the stock saw I cut out on the way up with the second cut as I tried to set the switch too fast. I'm very pleased with the springboard photos - they show me that I've got my arms locked when I hit the log. That's very important. I need lots to work on in the standing.

Again, thanks for your cheers and support. I'm very excited about making the Finals. It's the first time under the new format.

all the best,
Jamie

The pleasure was mine...good performance. I had to leave just as the Hot Saw competition was gearing up and I needed to water and fight Japanese Beetles on Sunday but I was saving your best performance for last. You can't deny it...the Single Buck is your event. Man, you smoked the others on this event. No one could come near as fast. I was amazed...shocked at your speed. What is your secret...never mind, you might have to litigate against me if you told. Here is Arden Cogar Jr. in the Single Buck event.

"The competitors who will go on to the finals from Sunday are Jason Wynyard, Dave Jewett, Ryan and Lentz. Saturday's winners will join them in Stillwater for the finals: David Bolstad, Dion Lane, Arden Cogar Jr. and Harry Burnsworth."

Apparently the wet t-shirt competition was on Sunday...darn...

Cheap Axe Stihl Promotion

I forgot to mention the neat products you can take back with you if you attend one of these Stihl TimberSport competitions. I travelled a long distance, spent hours in the hot gruelling sun, yelled myself hoarse in support of the competitors and all I got from STIHL Incorporated, the biggest, most lucrative chainsaw company in the entire world, was this chinsey little foam axe...a cheap axe parting gift if I do say so. You would think that for as much as they charge for their saws they could promote their products by distributing truly useful sample items to potential customers. Oh well...maybe I can cut it up into little blocks and use it as air filters for my Poulan chainsaws. heh heh

Just wondered where a newbie might find info on 'stock saw' contests. How stock is stock - stock displacement or totally stock?? Can any modifications be made to the saw, the chain, etc.? Can you bring your own saw, or is it a contest with a supplied saw? What classes (engine size) are there? I definitely won't be able to hang with the pros, but think I might stand a chance against some other 'regular people' such as myself.

660

The stock saw race is with a stock MS660 supplied by Stihl. You can't do anything to it other than start it up and cut.
