testing a stihl ignition module

with a volt meter, how do you test a stihl ignition module(coil) to make sure that it's working correctly....????

Unless it's an old NON-ELECTRONIC version, you can't. And even then, it's not a reliable "test' - just an ohm reading of the pirmary and secondary windings. The best test is to mount it, and spin the flywheel.
