Ladies and gentleman, the hard working backbone of this great country, I come to you today to tell you of a grave and serious danger. That danger is complacency. That danger is the status quo.

For too long the arrogant saw makers have marketed their high prices as prestige. For too long have they promised you splendor but delivered the ordinary wrapped in pretty paper. Now is the time to show them you resent that condescension and vote with your dollars. Now is the time for change.

You need graphics....

Wow, Rex. Quite the stump speech.

I guess if folks bought more Wild Thangys, there would be...

less fossil fuel consumption (Saw running today? Nope.),

Consumers would be in better physical condition due to major exercise regimes trying to start the saw (Saw running today? Nope.),

and less pollution due to the... you guessed it... Saw running today? Nope.

Note... this post is completely biased based on many unfortunate experiences posted here by WT users. I have no personal experience on which to base this mild attempt at humor.

You light an idea for a fund raiser.....

Sort of like Roulette,,,,,

Put your money down on a number, 6 different saws .....

Toss the dice to see what saw gets yanked on for the winning number of pulls.

You would probably need to set a time deadline. After a couple of hours of pulling all those saws, the crowd might lose interest.:)

About the square chisel. Buying into the square club is waaaaayyyyy expensive.

I just bought a 101 link 33" loop of Oregon .404 full chisel full skip for 39 cents per link. Is that expensive? I don't consider it so, but maybe living in a logging and milling town makes it cheaper here. The shop has almost any type you could want.

The only problem I could see would be mud in the bark from the riverbank and a square ground chain. I would only use round ground on those salvage trees.

I've only ever run full or semi chisel, what are the advantages of round when it comes to dirt? Just cheaper to replace when (not if) you hit something, or what?

Was on my way into work Thurs morning and was sitting at a light. Over to the right, a man was sawing what looked to be a 4-5" limb of a tree in his business lot. He was using a "wild thing", I know this because not many saws resemble Barney as much as these.

The entire time I sat at the light...maybe 45 seconds, he was still hacking at it :dizzy: with barely any sawdust coming from the saw. Had I not been running late, I would have confronted the man and discussed a blade file. :buttkick:

The type of saw wasn't the reason a hacksaw would have been faster, o.k., maybe somewhat but it fits in the thread.
