TIllotson carb question

I have a partner P85 with tillotson carb. There is a broken white plastic piece with a small spring on the end. It looks like it went to the top of the carb. The saw seems to run fine. What did this part do? Should I get another one? thanks

Dont worry about this lever,he was there to help about vapor lock condition when you wanted to start the saw when hot.Dont think it helps that much.So you can run without and you wont feel anything missing.
