Timing advance how to

Can someone please explain which way to rotate the flywheel when advancing timing on a stihl. Thanks

Counter clockwise. Same as engine rotation.

You said "advance the time". The flywheel turns to the left, so I would think that you would advance it to the left. Tom

My reason for asking is on a car that rotates clockwise, to advance the timing you rotate the distributor against rotation.

To advance the timing on something, it depends on what part you are moving, the moving part or the non moving part. On a chainsaw, to advance timing, if moving the flywheel, move with direction of rotation. If moving the coil, move against direction of rotation.
