I would seriously love to find an old Poulan, Mac, or Homelite that is 70cc. The reason I would like it is because at our county fair there are only two classes and 70.9cc is the breaking point.

That being said I need to know what saws, by these manufacturers, are at the limit. Don't worry about the saws not having enough power because almost everyone's saws are stock with round filed chain.

These guys say every year how the new saws are so much better and I'm done with it. I also need to find the saw. My brother-in-law thinks the 4400 or 5500 is at this limit.

There are so many that know these things on here and I would appreciate the help.

Can't get much closer to the 70.9 limit than the Jonsered 2171, Husqvarna 372 or a Stihl 044.
The Poulan 4200, 4400 and the 6900 are all 69 cc.
Partner P70 and P7000 are 70 cc.
Pioneer/ Partner 7000 plus is 70 cc.
Mac 700 is 70 cc.
Jonsered 670 is 67 cc.
Jonsered 70e is 69 cc.
Dolmar 120si and 120 super are 68 cc.
Makita DCI 6800 is 68 cc.

I can build you an XL901 with a brand spanking new piston, cylinder and rings. But thats 77cc

Hmm OK lets look at your average xl12. Hearty lower end. Suppose I snap the tabs off of the cylinder bottom and take off 1.5mm. That should give me 2.0 bore by 1.375 stroke and really really close.
Wait a minute! I have a model 17 with that exact configuration.

Are you saying a model 17 is 70cc?
