I have this tree from a neighbor's property, it was a blow down from a recent storm. What is it?
The bark is almost sharp to the bare hands and is kind of brittle. The cambium,i guess, right under the bark is almost green. The wood is white and small amount of heart is dark brown..... The wood has no discernable smell. I thought it was some kind of oak until it had no smell..... The rounds are about 16" in the pics. The one pic with all the crazy copper oxide colored staining was part that might have been hit by lightning but it was allready split by mothernature before i started.
