Hello all. We are currently working on a large maple tree. At first I thought it was a sugar maple, but the sugar maple we cut last year looked almost like an ash tree. View attachment 308850

How about pix of bark that's not bashed in, end grain, and best yet LEAVES?

The one? in the pix could be just about anything.

It's easy to search for ID info online; check bark of norway maple vs sugar maple, for a starter.

LOL my exact thought when I tried to look at the bark.
Species Bashwood, with a hammer.
Or what happens when you throw Ash at Basswood many times.

I thought you were suppose to antique only the finished furniture?
Guess I should have paid more attention in woodworking classes.

I'm guessing silver maple.
