Tree trunk

Bald Cyprus tree 3 yrs. Old.
It has 2 knees popped up. Is there anyway to stop the knees from popping up?

ArtB, yeah less weigh on the knees does help. Thanks

Once the tree decides it needs them, probably not. Is it in a compacted or wet site? In better drained soils they don't often for knees

ATH, my cypress is in sandy loam soil.
I water it at the very outer of limbs.
At one time I used to drown the trunk but stopped. I also was punching holes all around tree to give it plenty of oxygen pathways.

No way to stop the knees They will do what they will do.
Spread mulch around the tree out to the drip line then you won’t have to fight the knees with the mower and both you and the tree will be happier.

I should mulch from trunk of tree to drip line? How many inches 2 or 3 ?

2-3" and NOT against the trunk of the tree. And NO landscape fabric under the mulch.
