Trouble buying chain for old blue homelite chainsaw xl12

I have been having trouble buying new chain for my XL12 went to HomeDepot and don't stock them anymore what are the best brands to purchase and what size,my bar is a 16 inch always purchased the cheaper brands and they don't seem to last that long, any help on this matter?

Just go by the nearest mower shop, they should have chains on rolls, just bring your saw or an old chain with you.

Probably a 3/8 .050 ga., 59 d.l....

I have a red XL 12.. I know it's 3/8th pitch, and the bar is most likely worn out enough to fit .058 gauge, but it probably is .050 to begin with. A lot of people seem to really like the Stihl RS chain

Oregon LGX or LPX is good stuff.

But DP semi chisel will stay sharp longer.

Both were Stihl brand much better cutting than the cheaper brand I was using

Stihl chain is a little harder to sharpen in the field with a file because they are harder metal. They stay sharp longer however..
