Turn 020 AVP into a top handle 020?

I don't need another running 16 inch Stihl user saw, but I'd love to have an 020 top handle. Can I achieve my goal simply by switching handles?


My friend who gave me the saw recently rebuilt the carburetor, and I got 150psi when I tested the compression. I think it has the makings of a great top saw. Has anyone got experience making such a mod? Thanks, O

I don't see why not. Do you have the ipl and manual for the 020? That should tell you

I still have three of four 020 AV saws buried somewhere. Two were runners and complete. One has factory white cover chain brake. They appeared to be the same case as the 020AVP. Heavy and not my thing but a good work tool if you like them.

Looking at the IPL it is certainly possible to do. You would need to source all of the top handle as well as related parts. The rest of the saw is the same.

From what I understand the rear handle actually started off as an acessory add on for the 020AV, so you should be able to go the other way without issue.
