Vermeer SC352 engine problems need upgrade

I have a 352 that is fresh off a rebuild and was told from the previous owner the Vermeer removed the turbo. Has tremendous blow by and is almost impossible to start when it is warm or has just cut a stump. I would like to know what other diesel will fit or if there is a conversion for a different diesel motor. Thanks

There’s a guy on here, Jimma who has a lot of experience with these, after much frustration I think he went to the Vermeer dealer and paid to have retrofitted to a B&S gasser. Vermeer does make a kit to do this. Everyone who owns this machine has faced this, the motors are garbage. I’ve never seen a 352 retrofitted to another make of diesel, so I think it’s safe to say no easy solution there. Was hoping Jimma would chime in here
