Been a while since I posted but looking to buy a new saw. Want it to be a strato saw in the 60-70cc area. Was thinking maybe 562xp. Anything else that is worth looking at? What sorta serial numbers/manufacture dates do I need to be looking at on the 562 to be sure I get all the carb updates etc?

The latest 562 IPL is dated 2016-04, and contains changes made as late as week 10, s/n 2016 1000481.

Your thinking is right, as the (somewhat lighter, with small bar mount) 560xp isn't sold in the US. The 2260 is basically the same saw as the 560 though, so you may want to take a look at that one if you don't mind the straight across handlebar....

Great stuff guys and thanks. Kinda been looking at the 562 for a while. How about the 461? Never been around one, wondering if it's a saw worth looking at?

So what changes, if any; are headed our way with the 2016 model year for the 555/562?

I love me some 70cc saw but would kinda like a running lighter weight saw. How do these two saws (461 and 562 respond when ported? I know there is a 461 for sale locally for $650 in decent shape. Keep in mind guys this is a mess around saw that I in no way need but I decided to sell my 660 and want to replace it with something fun and easy to run. The new saw will undoubtedly end up ported so that is a considerarion

As far as the 362 goes, ive never ran one, but im sure its a great saw. The newer version looks like it weighs as much as the 562. Im a stickler on weight. If im gonna run a saw for hours on end, i want my lightest, strongest saw.

The original 362 was listed as 13.0 lbs., then the 1st M-tronic as 12.8 lbs., now the most recent version is 12.35 lbs.. The 562 is currently listed as 13.01 lbs. but I recall it being around 12.8 lbs. years ago. What changed? Sometimes I think the manufacturers just make up schit or make typos and don't proof-read before they publish. The latest Stihl catalog has the new 362 listed as the old 12.8 lbs..

Personally, I couldn't tell the difference between the 1st m-tronic vs the current, but I could definitely feel the difference between the 1st m-tronic vs current on the 261's.
