Pepper spray? I used to use a product called ro-pel but I hav'ent seen that in years. Use the search function, I've seen several posts about this.

another product isa cheww-stop. or you can blend some chili powder in a blender and brush it on. or feed the squirrels something else somewhere else.

Sacraficial plantings to divert attention from the tree or feed them something tastier than the carbs they're finding in the Mulberry bark...

I hear they find salted rope quite a treat though you may have to find a tall tree to leave the rope in... Salt from ones hands is the best for this purpose...
