what do i do about bark damaged

IF you can get to it within hours, try to reattach it by applying slight pressure. A staple gun can work, or a bungee cord around the tree with some small blocks to get pressure in the right spots.
Otherwise leave it alone. Loose bark will act as protection from heat and UV degradation from the sun. The types of debris and insects that may take up residence under the loose bark are not generally harmful.
In some rare cases, you can Bridge Graft over the injury. This is best left to a professional. Nurserymen or orchard guys might be able to help with grafting.
