I have a quick/stupid question, what is an impulse line on a chainsaw?

What is it's function and what are the symptoms caused when it begins to fail or fails? Where is it located?

Thanks!
Bill

The impulse line is a line that transfers a pulse of pressure from the crankcase to the carb. to work the diaphragm and pump fuel. Not all saws have them, a lot of smaller saws take impulse straight through the intake manifold through a small hole. If the line is completely shot the saw will not run on its own because the carb cannot pump fuel. If it is going bad it will be leaking its pressure and the carb will not pump fuel very effectively and the saw will hesitate and want to die out a lot.

Idea

That's what I say to a stripper in Canada after about 10 canadian beers and I think I'm in love...

Duh! Doesn't everyone?

 eh?

On another note: I have a saw that always seems to run lean. No matter what I do do the H, it still screams. Unless I really adjust the Idle, it wants to die out. Perhaps this could be my issue???
