I am going to look at an 028 wood boss that is for sale locally. Most of my experence is with Stihl 044's and 046's. I see that they use a different oiling system and I want to check that out seeing that they have a nylon gear in the drive....but is there anything else I want to be on the lookout for? Any info would be a big help!

The early versions didn't have a chainbrake. If that is important to you, check for it. I had a couple and they both had compression of 154 psi.

They made the model for quite a while and any of them are good saws. The 028AV Super is generally more desirable and is very similar to the 026 in performance.

Depending on where you live and the model variation, the prices for good runners vary between $100 and $250

They are happy with a .325 16" bar.
