Whats your largest saw running .325 chain and smallest saw running 3/8 chain?

largest .325 chain would be the Dolmar 110 (43 cc)
Smallest 3/8 chain would be a 55 Rancher with 16" bar.

Any other questions?

I have used .325 with a 9 pin on my 066 worked just fine for fire wood just a hair faster than 3/8 in smaller bass wood and poplar.

Jeff and Casey, you both know good and well that Tim wasn't talking about 3/8 " lo-pro. Please quit confusing the issue.

Trimmed is pretty much dead on. Seems like the 46-55 cc range is the common break point. Few run 3/8" on anything smaller than 46cc and .325 is rarely used on anything above 55cc.

Hi. Im running .325 NK on my 359, I only need it for firewood but Wow does it cut,Mostly 10"-12" pine and its like a hot knife thro butter.

Is that what the Picco means, low profile? I know it takes a 5/32 file. I try not to bother myself with mundane details!

Yes, Picco is low profile. The 5/32" file is also too small for 3/8" chain, as it uses 13/64" or 7/32". Only low profile 3/8" would use that file size. .325" does in some as well.

I think he was meaning full size 3/8" chain, not 3/8" Low profile, which is what is on the 180.

The 180 has the LP NARROW (and .043), known as PMN in Stihl lingo, not the 3/8 Picco (.050) as found on the MS200t etc. , then comes the full size 3/8...

I run 3/8 (full size) on my 026, 361, 066, and my E20, 3/8 picco on my 200T, no .325 on anything.

I use full-size 3/8 x .050 on everything. With the 2 spools of chain (chisel & semi-chisel) that I keep on hand, a chain can be made for any saw.

Am considering getting an MS200 x 16" for small stuff. There goes the interchangeability out the window.....

Yes, I do have the 3/8 .50 gauge picco on mine.....cost a little extra with the bar swap but the chain should be a little more durable. Its simply a limbing saw anyway, with a 14" bar.

I do know that, which is why I clearly stated that as such. I run 3/8" standard, regular, full-size whatever you call it on my 361 and up. And on my 200T I also clearly stated that I run Picco on it....to avoid confusing the issue.

.325 is only on my 025 and 3/8" only on my 390, everything else is running 3/8" Picco. I bet I could run .325 on my 390 with the 25" bar, but I asked about that when I first got here and everyone acted liek I was an idiot. I can sort of see why, the 3/8" is a lot beefier chain even in .050 gauge and I bet those cutters last longer. .325 is good though I have cut reams of firewood on it with the 025.

I'm running .325 square chisel with a 9t drive sprocket with an 18" bar; on my Dave Neiger modified 361. It flys through the hard dead oak trees.

I run both 3/8 and .325 on the 026, depending on the bar and what I'm using it for.

Whatcha thinking Tim? Considering switching all your lil saws over to 3/8"?

Yep,because I know this guy who has a new roll of 3/8:clap: Just kidding. If the birthday fairy wants to get me a MS361, looks like 3/8 would be better than .325. I have too many new loops of .325 to change out all my midsize saws.
