Where should my winch go??

I believe i have just less than 20 gpm flow for the grapple. I have no fair-lead at this time. If I put it out on the end won't i need a fair-lead? If I mount it closer to the pedestal the block out on the end will kind of keep it pulling straight to the spool. Am I thinking right on this? My other concern is making the truck taller. I hate to add to the already tall truck b/c that will be the first thing that gets knocked off. Thanks for all the suggestions.....easier to type than weld.
