i found other brands but id like to stick with a stihl bar for my 08s rebuild if i can
the 08s build has taken a back sear to the 015 but its moving along quickly and im still waiting for the right fanwheel from the UK... and a flywheel

i know its stihl large mount... or D025
i tried contacting stihl 3 weeks ago and have not heard back from them

can someone maybe tell me which current models would use bars that fit an 08,
the ones that im told fit , like 046, 066 etc ..the slot is much shorter

im looking for rollomatic E just with the narrower low kickback tip, .050 gauge in 14 16 and 18 inch
for 14 i have 3005 000 4809
for the 16 i have 3003 000 8913
for the 18 i have 3003 008 8917
does this look right
there are so many bars and they are not cheap , i just want avoid wasting money on a bar that wont fit
any help appreciated

I am fairly certain it is the same slot as the big-big boys like the 088, 076, 051 ETC.. Oregon has a selector guide, fill in your brand, model # and it will show you what you can chose from. Stihl might have the same if u google it. Could post a wanted in the chainsaw ads and likely someone here could fix you up.

man where did you find that.. i looked everywhere for it.. thank you so much.. my 08s came 404 pitch so if i have to i will use one of the blades on the link you sent me,
unfortunately they are all .063 gauge.. i wanted to use .050 3/8 cuz my dad found and gave me an old roll that somehow did not rust of oregon 3/8 .050, that was the reason for my doing it the hard way and trying to find a a stihl blade that fit other newer saws and used a large mount.. that would also fit in the 08s

in the end if i cant be sure on what fits, ill take a measurement of the mount and see if some one might maybe take a measurement on one of their 046 066 088 etc etc

is there any where that might have the dimensions or a drawing of the slot on 046 066 088 saws if i could find a nd knew the dimensions of the slots for 046 066 088 etc etc, i could easily know if it would fit on the 08s

looks like im not gonna get a stihl bar in 050 3/8.. hens teeth.. you guys probly know this.. ill just keep an eye out and go with another brand for now..

Thanks so much but that will be too much bar for me.. I'm a 1 armed guy and I was trying to keep the bar to 18 or under if possible. I found a couple of NOS bars that came on the 08s but 180.00 plus shippi g is crazy for a 17 inch bar
Another option is buy a bar that does not fit and machine the slot and holes on my cncmill.. I have a stihl dealer here and maybe they might be nice enough to see what comes close that I can machine..

thank you for the link and your effort, i have seen the non stihl brand bars..and they will be an option if i cannot find a stihl bar..
so far i have managed to find all stihl parts for my 08s.. the problem is that i wanted a roller tip that fits this saw in stihl brand.

stihl got back to me and the smallest bar in a roller that stihl has in 3/8 is 20 inch and its 063
it seems that all the bars that were supposed to fit this mount which he tells me is 3002 mount
are .063 they came in 404 and 3/8

there were a couple of really old bars that fit it..but are .063, and are crazy expensive cuz
they are rare so it seems if i want to build this saw correctly, its
going to be either 404 (which i did find out is ow it came to me) or 3/8 in .063 with .063 chain.

if i want a newer roller tip in 3/8 .050 im going to have to modify a bar like rupedoggy above mentioned..
but 24 will be a waste of his efforts for me, id rather his bar go to someone who can use it.

Hi after reading this thread and downloading the pdf I am still confused on weather or not you can buy a bar for the stihl 08s in the new roller tip 20” I brought my saw to the stihl dealer and he was of no help, he had never even heard of this saw. Does anyone know what bar fits this? I don’t mind if its aftermarket I just want a 20” thank you!

The bar for this saw is the 075 family, the 090 family and 051 styles. The new 084, 088 and 880 will work also. All the short bars I have seen were either .404 or solid nose. I suppose you know this but that old dog is heavy and newer, lighter saws will pull a 20 inch without problem. Once you try a new saw and the increase in speed you may wonder what you were doing trying to make that clunker do a job for you. In case you are wondering, yes I have had 08. In fact I had one that included an attachment for a cutoff or concrete cutter. Mike

Thank you I it definitely is a big clunker it’s a special saw to me I was going to clean it up maybe new top end try to pull 60cc out of it and throw it on a chainsaw mill and mill up some black walnut!

they are hard to find in a roller tip... even the ones that are considered large mount like 066 088 that will mount up, do not appear to have the oiler hole in the right place. so they must be drilled anyway.. im still on the lookout, theres a couple on my list but the owners are a bit too proud of em, in the end i will have to pay it if i want it and thats that.

stihl ....3002 (LARGE MOUNT) is the new series of the bars for large MS saws and the oiler holes have to drilled
Stihl....1110 series was a bare no roller bar and direct fit.... hard to find
Stihl....1108 series was a bare non replaceable roller tip bar and was a direct fit with correct oiler holes but very hard to find
Stihl ...3003 series bar was a hard nose painted white with stihl painted in black on the sides and correct oiler holes ....scarce but can be found
Stihl ...3003 series white bar with red lettering and roller tip very very very hard to find
Stihl... 1107 was bare metal bar for the 07 saws with crosscut logo stamped on the side ..was a direct fit for the 08 series with correct oiler holes very hard to find
D025....tsumura as well as a couple other aftermarket call it this , but does require drilling oil holes
Large mount .......which is the 3002 series bars requires drilling oiler holes
SV mount ..........is what sugihara calls it and does require drilling oiler holes

not ALL 3002 series bars have the correct oiler holes for 08 series saw... the ones below are made specifically for 08 series saws with correct oiler holes
and will fit 07 series saws as well

these are rollomatic 3002 series that are a direct fit with correct oiler holes made specifically to fit 08s series saws
