Here is the operators manual.

Page 23 shows the bar and chain combinations.
You listed the 18" with 3/8 low profile chain. The chain from ebay is a 3/8 chain but not low profile so it won't work.For a more aggressive chain ,I would look for an Oregon 91vx or 91vxl with 62 drive links.

A friend said he had an a new 16" bar from 026 stihl i could have. Would that fit on my saw so i could run normal chain? thanks.

You have make an adapter to mount the stihl bar to the echo because the bar studs slot is different. Then drill the bar so the oil hole will line up with the echo. After all that your echo won't pull a 325 or 3/8 chain as well as the 3/8 low pro chain. Try the 91vx chain. If your not happy then look for a more powerful saw.

wow, Thanks again for the great info. I definitely wouldn't mind the excuse to buy a bigger saw.
