white birch is turning yellow and leaves are falling.

hi we live in Sacramento area and our birch is strugging we are
watering more, thinking it is not getting enough water, but that is
not helping and we have a sycamore tree it is doing the same
as the birch and they are at opposite sides of the back yard.
please help before it is to late. thanks the trees are about 7 years old. julie

its quite possible that the trees, only being seven years old, may well just be lacking nutrients or mycorrihzae, and its also possible to over water a stressed tree, I would try fertilizing the tree in autumn and maybe get someone to look at them to seel if their is a deeper problem.
