Ive recently noticed this white growth on my maple tree and cannot figure out what it is. Ive tried researching on the Internet but, cant seem to find any like examples anywhere. Does anyone know what this could be and how to treat? Ive seen some diseases on trees that are a little similar but not exact. Similar to Hypoxylon.
The tree did recieve some damage about 3 years ago from an ice storm but not extremely bad. We just went through a drought around my area for the past couple of months. Any Help would be appreciated.

I'd agree that it is decay that is likely NOT causing the decline of your tree... Something else caused the branches to die and the fungus is just recycling the wood.
