Cut this cherry down on my parents property since I couldnt find anything local. For my sisters welding next month. Is this normal pattern for wild cherry or is there a reason for the dripping look on the growth rings?? Decided to cut it little ways up so it didn’t barberchair since it was leaning and didn’t wanna ruin the trunk sealed the ends last night also502C3F8C-7990-4BAF-A918-77D5433ABD66.jpeg27850CF6-EAAF-4347-9183-C0A5412FE069.jpegEE5EAC73-4A88-4A15-A78E-9F660279ACD9.jpegB6415260-A993-4EB2-A2A6-667B00A7C0E0.jpeg

Milled with my 362 on 32” bar. Probably going to milled the remainder of the trunk I have. It’s about 3’ or so long. Thinking 1 3” thick slab or couple 2”ers. Try and not include the pith in them, got 18 2” cookies and 1 4” thick one since I forgot to switch my mill from 4” to 2” after the first cut lol, got a couple inch down and was like dang it5A13D4BB-ECC2-4892-9752-129AB9F65CF4.jpegC9B93ECE-D26E-4B45-9C30-794442D6E31C.jpegD43F2194-AAC4-404F-9AF6-EAC39288FDB9.jpeg9E0E4E14-D9B5-478C-B204-8F8534E00F81.jpeg862A4D9C-0A44-463F-97A7-C5C98871307B.jpeg

Got this wax from the local wood shop and was just going to get a quart for 10$ and start using tite bond wood glue as end sealer since it’s a lot cheaper. Was using anchor seal. It’s 50$ for a gallon and the guy says that what’s in this jug. They just take it out of a 55 gallon drum so I just bought a gallon for 30$ for cookie slabs like these And whatever else, dang near hit the buy now on Amazon last night lol, but figured use tite bond since it’s cheaper and works better, forgot how it does with rain tho, I’ll have to test with the little bit I have left, fingers crossed6AE241A5-9771-4BB6-B43D-1896FF9F9257.jpegCDD12E35-0E62-43A7-9C30-BBA9672836C6.jpeg1691266D-5DD0-4A42-87E0-48C9CB8D6BC0.jpegF09E1791-26BE-4040-8FA9-E8E027B0F8E4.jpeg

I did cut most of it from the straight part of the trunk. I am sure some of them will crack tho. There are going to be for my sisters wedding. I’ll probably just leave them as is. Not going to flatten them on my router sled till they’re dry. Any idea on drying times of cookies? That are sealed with wax on both ends? I was thinking under a year but not totally sure. Haven’t dealt with cookie slabs much.

Going on tables and decoration on top like a pic and flowers I’m guessing. Got 2 3” pieces and 1 2” piece and just got the pith in the end of one of them. Hopefully it won’t bother it or I’ll router sled it down 3/16 to get it out. Leon says he’s hitting the wood soft lol9FF5C85C-996C-48E7-81FD-59D8F8C5A512.jpeg95E28E49-5AC9-4EE2-B92E-95A38BE19C9E.jpeg9B48046F-1759-4823-AB43-876D3E1B6EDF.jpeg7DEF5CBC-0929-425A-A129-B24A5E58F6A6.jpegF46E1834-A1BF-4CB2-B2BB-DC7F16978D5C.jpeg
